Black and White Printing Xerox Docutech

Black and white printing? What is a Docutech?  The Odee Company’s Xerox Docutechs are both Xerox Docutech 135 models.  They can print a maximum sheet size of 11×17 without bleeds at up to 8000 per hour in black and white.  Print On Demand or On Demand Printing at it’s finest.

Who prints using Docutechs in Dallas?  Financial Institutes print using Xerox Docutechs.  Publishing companies.  Many training facilities send their black and white training manuals to The Odee Company for printing.  Human Resource departments rely on Xerox Docutechs to keep all of their black and white forms and documents in line.  And lastly, schools love the black and white prints for their workbooks, forms, mailers, and applications.

Do you only print black and white copies?  The Xerox Docutech prints black only.  We then dress the manuals or workbooks up by printing a color cover on our Digital Press HP3050 or depending on quantity one of our offset presses.

Sometimes your stuck. Maybe you have a creative mind block or you can’t figure out something you want to do on a design. Maybe you are beginning in design and looking for training. Tips, Inspirations, Ideas and other factors lead you to search for good sites about print design on the internet. I thought I would give you some of my favorites from The Odee Company. We are a commercial printing company located in Dallas, Tx but with a fairly large web presence we do run across other sites we like to bookmark on our printing industry. Here are 6 great sites with brief descriptions of each.

  • www.printdesignplanet.com This site gives you the ability to have designers quote on your project. Gives you brief descriptions of designers and some track record of them. If you are not a designer but need something designed and don’t know anyone this might be a good place to go.
  • www.smashingmagazine.com Love this site! Has all kinds of articles on the industry and will give you tips, how to and examples such as typeface use and other things.
  • 1st Web Designer This site gives you tutorials on how to get print ready. Also, has freebies and inspiration works for you to view.
  • Wikipedia This goes directly to the definition of graphic design, the history and what all it entails. Great for background on several parts of graphic design.
  • Lynda.com This site has hours and hours of tutorials and how to videos. You pay $25/month with no commitment and you can get as educated as you want. Don’t have much money? Spend $25 and you can go through 20-30 classes in one month.
  • Youthedesigner This site has a nice blog, gives you tips, has tutorials, and inspirations from posted work for ideas.

These sites whether you are a beginner or a true professional need to be checked out and bookmarked and while you are at it bookmark our website as well. 4 Print Design Blogs You Must Read!!!

Since this blog is about commercial printing and all that entails I thought you might like to see some blogs that are excellent.

The first one is a designer from the UK that obviously does some great work called Designshard. He gives you design tips, inspiration and shows special effects in some of the major graphics programs such as: Photoshop

Another UK called the Design Shack. Love there newest article on 10 places to find free vector art.

The next one comes from down under in Australia called printdesignblog. This sight is hosted by Twilight Emerald Print Design. Gives you some insight into getting your print design printed, tips on major software programs for both vector and photoshop type files and speaks in general about commercial printing.

The third one is graphicdesignblog and touts itself as “an ultimate resource for graphic designers”.This one is more about interesting marketing and branding stories among other things and has articles discussing rebranding and the history of famous logos.

Then from one that has videos, articles, great pics,and very insightful info and tips try Travis Stein’s Blog.

Last but not least is The Odee Company blog from good old Dallas, Tx USA. Our blog talks mainly about the processes of printing and how we use them in our company. These articles give you tips to decide the best way to print your project and how to decide on one printing company over another.
